ANTELOPE, Calif. — One neighborhood library serving Antelope is also an important regional service center for families whose main language is not English. The North Highlands–Antelope Library, at 4235 Antelope Road, Antelope, CA 95843, lists collections in Russian, Ukrainian, Persian, Pashto and Spanish, along with meeting-room access, Wi-Fi, printing and public computers.

What residents can use

According to the Sacramento Public Library’s branch listing, available facilities include a book drop, copier, fax machine, wireless internet, meeting room, patio, printer, computer access, scanner and tablets. Those services can help residents who need to prepare documents, search for work or study without buying equipment. Borrowing policies, meeting-room reservations and equipment availability should be confirmed with the library.

The published branch schedule lists Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., with the branch closed Sunday and Monday. The official location page maintains the current closure and holiday schedule. For a time-sensitive visit, phone (916) 264-2920.

Why the building matters to North Highlands and Antelope

The branch’s own history traces its beginnings to 1955 in a 1,000-square-foot building on South Haven Drive in North Highlands. As population grew, the library relocated in 1962 and 1967. Community campaigns helped preserve library service during difficult budget periods in the 1980s and 1990s.

A new site was selected at Antelope and Old Walerga Roads in 1998. Groundbreaking followed in 1999 and the present library opened in 2001. It represents a community-serving connection between two neighboring areas, rather than a facility operating only for residents inside one postal boundary.

What the branch page does not establish

The listing of Russian and Ukrainian language collections does not mean every book or interpretation service is available on demand, or that public programs will always be offered in those languages. Residents should contact staff or use the catalog to confirm materials and current activities before making a special trip.
